Ben Nelson Jr. 
Ben has served on the Bonita Springs City Council for seven years and is currently Deputy Mayor. He has owned and operated Nelson Marine Construction for 26 years. Prior to serving on the Council, Ben served as a Director for Bonita Springs Utilities for ten years, three of them as President. He is a member of Cypress Lodge in Naples, the Bonita Springs Rotary Club, and has been a member of the historic First United Methodist Church in Bonita Springs for over 40 years.
Ben has been married to his wife Lori for seven years; he has twin boys, Nick and Neil, age 28, one daughter Megan, age 23, and two grandchildren.
Bens grandparents homesteaded in what is now Cape Coral in the 1920's. His father, Ben Sr. was born there, and Ben Jr. was born on July 25, 1954 in West Palm Beach, Florida. The family moved to Bonita Springs in 1959, just in time for Hurricane Donna and Ben has called Bonita home ever since then. Ben attended Bonita Springs Elementary School and from there went on to Cypress Lake High School where he graduated in 1972.
Ben's parents owned and operated the local hardware store in Bonita Springs for many years and Ben worked in the family construction business until 1979. After spending 2 years working as a superintendent for a large bridge contractor Ben bought the family construction business and continues to own and operate it today. Ben has a brother Tim who resides in Bonita Springs and a sister Julie that lives in New Jersey.
